Chiconi is a French commune in the department and overseas region of Mayotte with a population of 8,295 inhabitants. It is located in the center-west of the island. The town is made up of the villages of Chiconi and Sohoa and is home to a growing population that speaks Shibouchi, a dialect inherited from the Malagasy language. In this municipality, the two main cultures of the island of Mayotte are represented. Chiconi is indeed one of the first localities on the island for the production of vanilla and is also a center of cultivation of Ylang-Ylang, a tree whose flowers are used in the perfume industry.
